Solana Labs has teamed up with Google Cloud to integrate their GameShift platform into Google Cloud’s services. This partnership, announced last Thursday, aims to enhance the accessibility and use of blockchain technology in the gaming industry by utilizing Google Cloud’s vast infrastructure.
GameShift, developed by Solana Labs, simplifies the complexities of blockchain for game developers. It offers a range of tools such as an easy-to-use API, options for in-game digital asset minting, creation of branded NFT marketplaces, and handling of credit card payments and payouts. This integration will enable developers to effortlessly deploy their blockchain games on a reliable and scalable cloud platform.
Jack Buser, Director of Games at Google Cloud, highlighted the significance of this collaboration. He stated, “Many game studios built on Google Cloud want to tap into the creative potential of Web3 technology, but the inherent technical complexities have been a major barrier to broader adoption.” He further emphasized the benefits of this partnership, “By bringing GameShift into Google Cloud’s ecosystem for living games, we’re giving developers a streamlined path to build immersive blockchain experiences without wrestling with the underlying technology.”
The connection between Google and the Solana ecosystem is not new. Since 2022, Google Cloud has been running a validator to support the Solana network and has included Solana in its service that allows users to launch their own blockchain nodes.
Now, as part of Google Cloud’s partner network, GameShift stands to broaden its reach and impact in the blockchain gaming sector, making it easier for developers to leverage the technology for creating engaging and innovative gaming experiences.
