The World Esports Federation (IESF) is pleased to announce a historic turnout of 130 registered Member Federations for the National Qualifiers of the World Esports Championship (WEC) 2024. This is a ground-breaking milestone. With a total of 609 teams competing for victory across five game titles to represent their respective countries, this is a considerable jump. Starting on January 16, the National Qualifiers are expected to be the most competitive yet.
The astounding quantity of Member Federations that have enrolled for the National Qualifiers is evidence of the International Esports Federation’s rapid expansion. This year’s participation clearly demonstrates the advancement of the Esports ecosystem, with a noteworthy increase in both organization and participation.
IESF General Secretary Boban Totovski expressed surprise as well as anticipation at the extraordinary attendance. “We are amazed, but not surprised, by the number of Member Federations that have registered for this year’s National Qualifiers,” he said. It just displays the organization’s expansion, the Federations’ advancements, and the Esports ecosystem.”
Building on the success of last year’s WEC in Iasi, Romania, which witnessed incredible competition and attendance, the 16th edition of WEC is poised to be even more massive. The upcoming championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is expected to draw attention globally, with the heightened enthusiasm evident in the National Qualifiers.
The National Qualifiers are the first stage leading up to WEC24. They choose the teams who will play for their countries in the next Regional Qualifiers, which will start in June. This extensive qualifying process takes into account games on PCs, mobile devices, and consoles, reflecting the diversity of the esports scene.
Boban Totovski underlined that the IESF is dedicated to giving athletes the best possible environment in which to represent their nations. With so many players and teams signing up for the WEC24, the competition is expected to reach previously unheard-of heights, making it the biggest international esports tournament to date.
