Pudgy Penguins is set to roll out its new Telegram-based game, Pengu Clash, on June 18. The project also includes a new partnership with NASCAR, which could bring more exposure to the Web3 brand through mainstream sports promotions.
Good to know
Pudgy Penguins is expanding into casual gaming with Pengu Clash, a fast-paced multiplayer mini-game built into Telegram and supported by the TON blockchain. Players can compete in short matches across game types like Football, Darts, and Bomber. The game goes live globally on June 18.
The game was developed in collaboration with Elympics, with an emphasis on skill-based gameplay instead of speculative token earnings. Users can play right away without needing a wallet, but connecting one unlocks NFT cosmetics and prize pools in TON tokens.
Ahead of the official launch, Pudgy Penguins ran a pre-launch campaign allowing early users to sign up as “lil’ waddlers.” That campaign attracted over 2 million registrations by mid-June. The simple entry process, made easier by Telegram’s interface, helped the game pick up speed among both crypto-native and casual audiences.
Elympics co-founder Tom Kopera explained the idea was to create a straightforward, competitive experience that leaned on game mechanics instead of financial incentives. Each match is short, and players can queue quickly, making it suited for Telegram’s fast-moving platform.
Pudgy Penguins also announced a fresh collaboration with NASCAR. While detailed activations have not yet been revealed, NASCAR media is already promoting the game’s branding and mascot. A teaser clip shared by Pudgy Penguins showed Pengu preparing for a race, suggesting that racing themes or NASCAR crossover events could be part of the plan.
