Meta has released Forum, a separate app built around Facebook Groups. The app gives group members another way to follow discussions, post under nicknames, and use AI tools tied to community conversations.
Good to Know
Meta has brought Facebook Groups back into a stand-alone app with Forum, a new product built around community discussions rather than the main Facebook feed.
The company describes Forum as a “dedicated space built for deeper discussions, real answers and communities you care about.” That setup gives the app a Reddit-style feel, with feeds centered on group conversations and replies from real users.
After signing in with a Facebook account, Forum loads existing groups, profile details, and activity. Users can also post with a nickname, similar to the option already available inside the main Facebook app.
Forum does not replace Facebook Groups. Meta says groups still live on Facebook, and anything shared through Forum will also be visible inside those groups on Facebook.
AI also plays a key role. An “Ask” tab lets users ask questions and get answers pulled from discussions across different groups. For moderators, Meta has added an AI admin assistant to help manage groups and handle moderation tasks.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra appeared to be among the first to spot the app. Meta has not presented Forum as a major launch, but the product fits a wider effort to keep users active inside smaller communities while offering more focused spaces outside the main Facebook app.
Meta has tried a separate Groups app before. In 2014, Facebook released a dedicated Groups app to make sharing across communities easier, but the company shut it down in 2017.
Forum also arrives soon after another Meta app release. Last month, the company introduced Instants, an Instagram-linked app for disappearing photos shared with friends.
