METABORA is teaming up with LINE NEXT to bring Web3 games to a much wider audience, using a messaging app that millions already use every day. This move aims to make blockchain games more accessible and less complicated for everyday users, especially those who are new to the space.
Good to know
LINE NEXT, the Web3-focused branch of LINE, has already attracted over 100 million users since launching the Dapp Portal in January. The platform lets people use various decentralized apps, including games, directly through LINE Messenger—no separate download required. That makes it one of the easier entry points into Web3 for casual users.
METABORA brings its experience in global game development to the table, along with its partner network. It plans to distribute high-quality blockchain games through the Dapp Portal under its BORA brand. The company is also expanding the use of its BORA token within this ecosystem to allow seamless in-game purchases.
One important change on the horizon is the introduction of Gas Abstraction technology. Once in place, players using BORA will not have to worry about owning KAIA just to cover gas fees—this will simplify the payment experience for non-crypto-savvy players. That update is expected to roll out in the second half of the year.
Lim Youngjun, Co-CEO of METABORA, said:
“We’re pleased to partner with LINE NEXT, a company making remarkable strides in the global Web3 gaming market with its vast user base. Through our strong network of development partners, we will carefully select and bring high-quality games to the Dapp Portal, working together to create a leading example of Web3 gaming reaching a mainstream audience.”
On the other side, LINE NEXT is not just offering distribution power—it will also assist with marketing and onboarding support. The company wants to make it easier for users to engage with blockchain games by improving the payment process and potentially allowing the use of stablecoins such as USDT in the near future.
Kim Woosuk, CSO at LINE NEXT, added:
“Through this partnership with METABORA, we look forward to creating a major success case for Mini Dapp. Moving forward, we will continue working closely together across multiple fronts, including enabling USDT stablecoin support to improve game onboarding and the overall user payment environment.”
