According to industry insiders, Keanu Reeves, who is well-known for his parts in “John Wick” and “The Matrix,” will be voicing Shadow the Hedgehog in the next “Sonic the Hedgehog 3.” The announcement, which hinted at a big addition to the star-studded ensemble, was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is slated for release on December 20 and promises an epic battle pitting Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles against Shadow and Jim Carrey’s character, Dr. Robotnik. Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, James Marsden, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey are among the returning stars that will play new roles.
The first trailer, unveiled at Cinemacon in Las Vegas, teased audiences with glimpses of Shadow, but the public awaits its release eagerly. While Paramount has yet to confirm Reeves’ involvement officially, his potential addition amplifies the anticipation surrounding the film.
Reeves joins a stellar lineup of newcomers, including Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone. The introduction of Shadow was teased in “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” adding to the intrigue surrounding the character’s voice actor.
In the interim, fans can indulge in the standalone Knuckles series, slated to premiere on Paramount Plus on April 26. This precursor offers enthusiasts a taste of the Sonic universe while heightening excitement for the forthcoming film.
