User adoption of consumer AI tools continues to accelerate, and the latest earnings data from Google highlights how quickly that landscape is shifting. New figures show one of its flagship AI products moving into the top tier of global usage within months.
Good to Know
According to fourth quarter 2025 earnings from Google, its AI chatbot Gemini has surpassed 750 million monthly active users. The figure reflects rapid uptake after the product reached 650 million users just one quarter earlier.
The growth places Gemini ahead of Meta AI, which has reported close to 500 million monthly users. Even with that momentum, Gemini still trails its largest competitor, ChatGPT, which analysts estimate reached around 810 million monthly active users toward the end of 2025.
Product updates appear closely tied to the jump. Google recently rolled out Gemini 3, its most advanced model to date. The company says the release delivers deeper and more nuanced responses, particularly when used inside AI mode.
Sundar Pichai pointed to Gemini 3 as a meaningful contributor to growth, describing the launch as a positive driver and signaling continued investment and iteration to sustain adoption.
Pricing strategy also plays a role. Google recently introduced Google AI Plus, a lower cost subscription priced at $7.99 per month. While the plan launched too late to impact the reported quarter, executives expect it to attract more budget focused users over time.
“We are focused on a free tier and subscriptions and seeing great growth,” said Philipp Schindler during the investor call.
Gemini expansion aligns with broader financial results at Alphabet. The company crossed $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time this quarter, with AI products cited as a key contributor.
On the infrastructure side, Google continues to invest in custom hardware. The company recently introduced Ironwood, the latest generation of its TPU AI accelerator chip, positioning it as a competitor to offerings from Nvidia.
