G2, a well-known brand in the entertainment and esports sectors, has finished its Series B funding round. The Wilf family’s investing business, WISE Ventures, spearheaded the fundraising. WISE Ventures has now formally become a part of G2’s ownership group. Renowned entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk and The Tornante Company, headed by the former CEO of Paramount Pictures and The Walt Disney Company, are other noteworthy investors. The money was also provided by G2’s executive team, demonstrating their continued faith in the company’s prospects.
This fresh capital will drive G2’s expansion into new gaming titles, broaden its global footprint, and enhance its direct-to-fan offerings. Additionally, the funds will support G2’s increasing involvement in the Call of Duty League (CDL). The organization has acquired full ownership of the Minnesota Rokkr CDL slot, previously operated by Version1.
G2 has made a name for itself with over 100 major tournament wins across various esports titles, including League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, and Rainbow Six Siege. The Series B investment will further cement G2’s position as a top-tier esports brand.
Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2, highlighted the company’s successful growth, stating, “This successful investment round and the addition of our new investors showcases G2’s strength and value as an organisation. This year is our 10th anniversary, and looking back over the last decade, we’ve not only built a globally successful brand with teams that are consistently on top, but also we’ve built a valuable business that’s been profitable for multiple years. As we look ahead, we’re excited to keep building our legacy to become a next generation sports organisation.”
Additionally, the money will be used to support campaigns, new content initiatives, and enhancements to G2’s fan-focused app. With alliances with international companies like Red Bull, Oakley, Ralph Lauren, and Mastercard, G2 hopes to further include its fan base of more than 30 million.
Current investors Jens Hilgers, Al Tylis, and Bluepool also raised their investments in the round in addition to WISE Ventures. G2’s strong ownership group still includes notable sports investors like the Tampa Bay Lightning, LAFC, and McLaren Racing.
Konrad von Moltke, Principal of WISE Ventures, praised G2’s leadership team, saying, “Since getting to know G2’s management team in early 2023 we have continued to be impressed with their strategic vision, work ethic, operational excellence and communication. We are thrilled to be partnering with G2 on their next stage of growth.”
Jonathan Wilf, Controlling Owner of Version1, added, “G2 and Version1 are a natural fit. We are fully invested in the future of esports – our partnership with G2 and our investment in this funding round is a testament to that. We are excited to build on the legacy of Version1, and we can’t wait to bring more championships to G2’s global fanbase.”
As G2 celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, fans can expect exclusive events, collaborative merch releases, and special content drops. With a decade of success behind them, G2 is looking forward to shaping the future of esports.
