Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk, showcased the platform’s latest livestreaming studio feature for Premium users by streaming his Diablo IV gameplay session. The Tesla magnate shared his experience on Monday, saying, “Tested the X video game streamer system last night. It works!”
He even teased more content, hinting at a future Tier 100 Nightmare dungeon session.
How does this feature work? Mark Kalman, the X Media Engineering Lead, had earlier unveiled a tutorial on the mechanics of Twitter’s Media Studio livestreaming. Users simply need to visit studio.x.com, log in using their Twitter credentials, and integrate a stream key with their choice of streaming software. This development means gamers can use popular platforms like OBS to broadcast directly to Twitter, coupled with a chat feature for audience interaction.
This update seems to be in line with Musk’s vision for the platform since his takeover. Offering users more media capabilities, like extended video uploads and possibly a “paywalled video” feature, signals Twitter’s drive to evolve. Currently, the livestreaming option is available to Twitter Blue subscribers.
Could Twitter, or X as it is called now, emerge as another competitor to Twitch or streaming services like Amazon or the recently launched Kick? Time will tell, but Musk does seem to hold some good cards in hand.
