Dark Table CCG is officially the first blockchain game to be accepted into the Dream Catalyst Accelerator, a $10 million program created by Somnia and Uprising Labs. The announcement signals a fresh chapter for the card game, which originally launched on Steam and the Epic Games Store last November but failed to catch much traction in its early access release.
Good to know
Now, the team is betting on Web3. By partnering with Dream Catalyst, Dark Table CCG gets access to mentorship, funding, tools, and industry connections spanning both blockchain and traditional gaming sectors.
Players can expect major upgrades soon. The developers have temporarily removed the game from Steam and Epic Games to focus on implementing substantial improvements. According to the game’s Discord, thousands of items will be moved on-chain to allow for true digital ownership. Players will be able to buy, sell, and trade their cards and other assets directly.
To support its Web3 rollout, Dark Table CCG is introducing the “Under the Table Pass.” Only 1007 of these will be issued. While the pass doesn’t exist yet, community raffles, giveaways, and collab events will offer ways to get whitelisted for one.
Holding a pass unlocks access to the Origin Key Collection and closed beta. Origin Keys come with in-game benefits like exclusive tournaments, unique avatars, rarer item drops, and more. The team plans to run regular playtests for pass holders soon.
Leaderboards will also be a key feature of the open beta. Top players will earn whitelist spots based on metrics like win rates, total damage dealt, number of games played, and cards used. According to the team’s FAQ, the beta will be free to download through Steam and Epic once it’s live, though no launch date has been announced yet.
Dark Table CCG is a four-player collectible card game set in a Lovecraft-inspired universe. Players, known as Keymasters, select a Leader and build a deck that supports their unique Enrage Abilities. The more dangerous a Leader’s abilities, the lower its starting health — creating a balance of risk and reward.
During matches, all four players battle it out in free-for-all format, racing to Enrage their Leader before anyone else. Once enraged, game-ending abilities can turn the tide instantly.
Built on Somnia, an EVM Layer 1 blockchain, Dark Table CCG brings blockchain tech directly into gameplay mechanics. The team’s pivot to Web3 is also part of a broader strategy to revive the title and reach a new audience.
