New Horizons in Web3 as Animoca Brands Japan Teams Up with KDD

Animoca Brands Japan has teamed up with KDDI Corporation, marking a major leap forward in the push towards wider Web3 adoption. This collaboration centers around the integration and mutual enhancement of Mocaverse and αU, two platforms at the forefront of digital innovation. Mocaverse, seeded by Animoca Brands, stands out for its comprehensive infrastructure that supports Account, Identity, Reputation, and PointFi systems. Meanwhile, KDDI’s αU service is pioneering in the metaverse and Web3 sectors, offering a variety of tools and experiences that bridge the gap between virtual and physical realms.

The partnership was solidified through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), laying the groundwork for integrating Mocaverse’s decentralized identifier system, Moca ID, with the αU wallet. This integration aims to simplify access to Web3 content for αU wallet users, enabling them to dive into games, entertainment, and cultural experiences seamlessly within the Mocaverse ecosystem. Additionally, the agreement seeks to foster collaboration between Animoca Brands and αU in the realms of intellectual property and Web3 content, including the promotion of NFT sales for the Web3 game PHANTOM GALAXIES™ on the αU market.

Animoca Brands, a leader in the Web3 domain, invests in and develops a wide range of projects, including blockchain games, metaverses, DeFi, and wallets. Animoca Brands Japan focuses on extending Japanese IP and content into the global Web3 scene.

Since its inception, Mocaverse has grown into a significant network, facilitating the creation of a vast on-chain cultural economy. With over 750,000 on-chain users minting their unique .moca names since November 2023, Mocaverse is rapidly expanding its ecosystem. PHANTOM GALAXIES™, developed by Blowfish Studios, combines science fiction RPG elements with blockchain technology, offering an immersive multiplayer experience.

KDDI’s αU, launched in March 2023, aspires to empower users to become creators, effortlessly transitioning between real and virtual worlds. The service encompasses the αU wallet, αU market, αU metaverse, αU live, and αU place, providing a comprehensive suite for digital interaction and creation.
