Animoca Brands, Animoca Brands Japan, San FranTokyo, and MyAnimeList have joined forces as launch partners of the Anime Foundation. This new community-owned protocol bridges the gap between Web2 and Web3 for anime and manga. This partnership aims to create new opportunities for fans, creators, studios, IP holders, and anime-inspired projects worldwide. The collaboration follows Animoca Brands Japan’s JPY¥300 million strategic investment in MyAnimeList, the largest anime and manga community site with 16 million members.
The Anime Foundation will ally with Mocaverse, featuring interoperable infrastructure from Animoca Brands. This alliance will use Mocaverse’s Realm Network SDK to launch Anime ID, a decentralized identifier to facilitate Web3 onboarding.
Anime Foundation seeks to connect traditional anime and manga with Web3 communities, enhancing fan experiences globally. Central to this mission is Anime ID, which offers new monetization models and community-building initiatives based on blockchain technology.
The Anime Foundation envisions a future where creators have more opportunities, distribution is more effective, and fans access exclusive content and ownership opportunities. The four strategic partners each bring unique strengths. MyAnimeList and Animoca Brands Japan will leverage their strong industry networks and community engagement, while Animoca Brands and San FranTokyo will utilize their Web3 ecosystems and blockchain technologies.
The Anime Foundation, working with Mocaverse, will launch Anime ID. This feature allows fans to claim unique on-chain Anime IDs, explore and curate their anime profiles, and enjoy various Web3 experiences, including GameFi and SocialFi. Thanks to Mocaverse’s Realm Network, Anime ID will share a single login with other Realm IDs, allowing users to customize their digital identity domain names (e.g., david.anime).
Anime ID users will access a range of Web3 experiences powered by the Moca Network. They can also earn Realm Points, the loyalty points of Moca ID, as they engage and contribute.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, expressed his excitement: “We are thrilled to be a launch partner of Anime Foundation, which will champion anime culture globally. Rather than focusing on a few IPs, the foundation will spur a comprehensive and inclusive anime-verse, a Web3 powered ecosystem.”
Daisuke Iwase, CEO of Animoca Brands Japan, added: “We are excited to support Anime Foundation and enrich the global anime community. Together, we look forward to creating remarkable anime content and fostering deeper connections with fans.”
