The national champion in eFootball is Akash Rudro, popularly known as “FGC Hero,” from Kolkata, West Bengal, according to the Esports Federation of India (ESFI). In the eFootball Mobile division at the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) 2021, he will proudly represent India. From November 21 to November 30, 2024, Bangkok/Chonburi, Thailand, is the planned location of the event.
Akash’s victory came after a hard-fought competition at NESC24, one of India’s most prestigious esports tournaments. With over 1,000 athletes from across the nation, this event was the qualifying platform for AIMAG. This year, NESC24 focused exclusively on eFootball 2024 due to the ban on other popular mobile titles like Arena of Valor (AOV) and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) in India. Akash’s success in this event highlights the growing significance of India on the global esports stage.
ESFI President Shri Vinod Tiwari praised the achievement, stating, “Akash’s selection is a testament to the dedication and talent that exists within India’s esports ecosystem. This milestone in eFootball Mobile adds to the legacy we are building, following our successes in Dota 2 at the Commonwealth Esports Games and League of Legends at the Asian Games. With the 6th AIMAG, we’re set to showcase India’s potential on the global stage, and we’re already setting our sights on the Olympics Esports Games in 2025.”
Akash “FGC Hero” Rudro’s performance at the National Esports Championship 2024 (NESC24) was nothing short of remarkable. He outplayed top competitors like MUJJICOOLYT, GodSyncYT, mrtomboyYT, JOYBOY_PES, and LIARSFCYT7 to clinch the national title. Reflecting on his upcoming challenge at AIMAG, Akash shared, “I’ve faced international players before, and their playstyle differs significantly from what I’m used to in India. They employ distinct strategies and formations, so I know I need to adapt and improve. The NESC24 has been a crucial steppingstone, providing me with valuable experience and confidence to represent India effectively and strive for a medal.”
As the sole representative of India in eFootball Mobile at AIMAG, Akash is set to compete from November 23 to 28 at Chonburi’s Central Sriracha. His journey marks a significant step forward for Indian esports, with the nation’s talents ready to make a mark on the international stage.
