Bitcoin now pays for your Tesla

Tesla has begun accepting Bitcoin as payment method for its electric vehicles.

Tesla’s own ‘Technoking’, Elon Musk made the announcement today over Twitter in a couple of Tweets that said:

“You can now buy a Tesla with Bitcoin”

And

“Tesla is using only internal & open source software & operates Bitcoin nodes directly. Bitcoin paid to Tesla will be retained as Bitcoin, not converted to fiat currency.”

It is very interesting to see that Tesla are not planning to convert Bitcoin to fiat currency. Thru their car sales they are following the dollar cost average buying strategy and convincingly sticking to their commitment to Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is currently only available as a payment method in the U.S., however Musk did comment that it is also being rolled out to Europe within the year

Just minutes after the announcement was made, Bitcoin’s price responded by an immediate surge and has begun climbing aggressively getting close to the $57,000 mark once again.

It is worth noting that Tesla’s initial purchase of $1.5 billion of Bitcoin is already worth over $2.5 billion today.
