Only 6% of Asia Pacific consumers accurately understand stablecoins, despite 66% awareness, according to Visa. Meanwhile, 46% expect to use them within five years.

Visa also found that 41% believe stablecoins always increase in value, revealing a misconception beyond simple unfamiliarity.
Consumers placed the most trust in government or central bank entities at 27%, followed by banks and regulated financial institutions at 26%.
Against that backdrop, interest centres on online purchases, travel and international transfers. Almost half, 49%, expect stablecoins to become common for cross border payments within five years.
Nischint Sanghavi, Head of Digital Currencies, Asia Pacific at Visa, said:
“We’re seeing a meaningful shift in how consumers across Asia Pacific think about stablecoins. Consumers are beginning to see how stablecoins could support the ways they already spend and move money, particularly through online purchases, travel and cross-border transfers. The opportunity now is to turn that interest into trusted and familiar payment experiences that work at scale.”
Visa surveyed 14,250 adults across 14 markets in June and July 2026.
