US Shuts Down BidenCash After Selling 15 Million Credit Cards

Share

A major operation led by US law enforcement has taken down BidenCash, a dark web marketplace used to traffic stolen payment data and personal information. Authorities also seized 145 domains and recovered an undisclosed amount of cryptocurrency tied to the platform’s operations.

Good to know

  • BidenCash had over 117,000 users since its launch in 2022.
  • Over 15 million stolen credit card records were sold on the site.
  • The US redirected all seized domains to a government-controlled server.

Federal officials announced the domain seizures on June 5 through the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. The action followed a court-approved move to disrupt the site’s network and financial flows.

BidenCash, active since March 2022, generated more than $17 million by selling credit card data, personal details, and compromised login credentials. The marketplace released millions of stolen records for free at one point to draw more users and gain trust among cybercriminals.

The court also approved the seizure of crypto funds linked to these activities. Although officials did not say how much cryptocurrency was recovered, the move reflects the growing focus on tracking illegal crypto transactions tied to dark web markets.

The case was driven by the US Secret Service and the FBI, with support from international teams. It follows other recent actions like Operation RapTor, which dismantled several dark web drug marketplaces in May and led to 270 arrests in 10 countries.
