Scammers Target Trump’s Crypto Platform with Fake $15,000 Giveaways

Share

Donald Trump’s family-supported cryptocurrency platform, World Liberty Financial, has recently become the target of an elaborate scam, deceiving over 70,000 users with fraudulent crypto giveaways. The platform, which launched just last month, quickly attracted a large following, but this popularity also caught the attention of cybercriminals.

The scammers infiltrated World Liberty Financial’s official Telegram channel, which has more than 230,000 subscribers. They posted misleading ads that redirected users to a fake Telegram group called “World Liberty Financial Airdrop.” This fraudulent group, now with 74,741 subscribers, falsely promised up to $15,000 in cryptocurrency to users who connected their crypto wallets, putting their funds at significant risk.

The legitimate World Liberty Financial Telegram channel responded promptly, issuing several warnings to its followers. The team cautioned users to be vigilant, stating: “Please be aware of scams and fake tokens claiming to be associated with ‘Defiant Ones,’ ‘World Liberty,’ or similar names. Do not engage with these tokens.”

Official Warnings and User Protection Tips

To help users identify fake ads, the platform emphasized that genuine posts would never carry the label “Sponsored” or “Ad.” They urged users to report any suspicious activity to Telegram and to avoid clicking on any links or ads claiming to be connected to World Liberty Financial. One message from the platform advised: “Please do not click on any ads or links that claim to be associated with World Liberty Financial. We are NOT doing any airdrops or selling any tokens at this time.”

Despite this setback, Donald Trump continues to promote his pro-crypto stance. He has recently launched his fourth non-fungible token (NFT) collection and continues to refer to himself as the “crypto president.” Trump has also proposed the creation of a “national bitcoin stockpile” should he return to the presidency, highlighting his ongoing commitment to cryptocurrency.
