Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse in Talks with Georgian Prime Minister

San Francisco-based payments firm Ripple Labs is on the radar of Georgia as CEO Brad Garlinghouse met with the country’s Prime Minster Irakli Garibashvili sharing his crypto expertise and exploring the further adoption of crypto in the country.

The meeting was held during the 2022 World Economic Forum in Davos where the Prime Minister was joined by his Vice Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili. Garibashvili tweeted:

“Great talks with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse! Shared Georgia’s vision on future of blockchain & regulation.

With a business-centric environment & innovative approach, we aim to evolve as a tech & innovations hub. Shared Georgia’s story as the 1st country to bring Blockchain in public services.”

It is reported that the parties did not just explore cooperation but that the Georgian Prime Minister made an offer to Ripple. Local news media said:

“The Prime Minister offered the CEO of Ripple to open a corporate service center in Georgia and noted that Georgia has a favorable investment environment and the country has a stable location.”

Meanwhlie, Ripple’s court case with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is still ongoing over allegedly selling its native token XRP as an unregistered security.
