Revolut Reduces Crypto Trading Fees to Attract Customers

Share

Revolut, a well-known British Fintech with almost 30 million clients, has chosen to reduce its cryptocurrency trading commissions. Revolut wrote in an email to its clients, “For our Standard and Plus customers, the percentage-based cryptocurrency trading fee is being reduced from 1.99% to 1.49%.” Although the price has been reduced, sites like Coinbase, which charge less than 0.5% for cryptocurrency trading, show that it is still higher.

Revolut Expands Its Offerings Beyond Crypto

Revolut offers access to equities, including Coinbase’s COIN, so its attraction goes beyond just trading cryptocurrencies. Revolut was once valued at $30 billion, despite the fact that it is not yet a publicly traded company. Revolut is thought to have about $500 million worth of cryptocurrencies, but as it is a private corporation, precise numbers are not made available to the public.

According to CEO Nikolay Storonsky, earnings from cryptocurrency trading dropped from more than 30% of Revolut’s overall revenue in 2021 to 5% the following year. Revolut hopes to boost demand and recover momentum in the cryptocurrency trading sector with the latest fee cut.

Additionally, Revolut has been aggressively pursuing a banking license in the UK for more than two years. The business has a license in Lithuania for the European Union market even though the license has not yet been secured. Revolut would be the first British bank to provide crypto services if it were to be granted a banking license in the UK.

Revolut offers crypto trading, crypto staking, and the option to connect real or fake debit cards to cryptocurrencies in addition to crypto trading. Users may utilize this functionality to pay businesses with Bitcoin or Ethereum, albeit there is a 1.5% transaction charge. Nevertheless, it is a more enticing solution than merely selling their digital goods since consumers get payback in cryptocurrency.

Revolut wants to preserve its position as a top Fintech platform and draw more clients interested in both conventional investing and cryptocurrency by lowering crypto trading fees and increasing its products.
