Tomonobu Itagaki, responsible for the series Dead or Alive, and the successful re-launch of the Ninja Gaiden franchise for the original Xbox in 2004, announced the launch of Apex Game Studios and explained that it will be developed within Web3 and has already incubated its first game: Warrior.
Warrior aims to solve the performance, security and sustainability issues of GameFi 1.0 and achieve a breakthrough in GameFi 2.0. Itagaki expressed that one of the main characteristics a blockchain game must have to succeed is to be a real game that is fun and attracts attention — precisely what his team wants to achieve with Warrior.
With more than 30 years of experience, Tomonobu Itagaki said that entering the field of Web3.0 is completely new for him but really rewarding since he can work with new technologies. Although the industry is still brand-new, Itagaki believes it will grow steadily.
His Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series have created multiple sales records in the Japanese game industry, which has made him an icon and one of the highest-grossing game series producers in Japan.
He explained his intention to make games—real experiences—where people can compete against each other. He also commented that he was interested in not only developing games based on nonfungible tokens, or NFTs, but also the Metaverse and is planning to use the technologies as a great weapon. Itagaki believes it is vital to embrace the changes and take on the new challenges inherent in blockchain technology.
Apex Game Studios, founded by well-known Japanese producer Tomonobu Itagaki, focuses on producing highly playable, high quality and immersive 3A Web3.0 games; it currently has more than 100 employees, mainly in Japan and Singapore.
The first game released is Warrior, which is an MMORPG game developed by Unreal Engine. The Warrior Project is about to make its initial decentralized exchange offering, or IDO, and release the first Alpha version, and a series of Giveaway events are ongoing in the communities.
