Former boxing champion and Filipino politician Manny Pacquiao recently expressed his gratitude to the Shiba Inu (SHIB) community for their charitable contributions to his Manny Pacquiao Foundation.
In a heartfelt video message, Pacquiao thanked the SHIB Army for their generosity. “Hello, SHIB Community. Thank you for your commitment to helping those in need. We appreciate your continued support of the Manny Pacquiao Foundation, and we are excited for Shibarium,” he said. The foundation benefits from the contributions, aiding global initiatives such as housing projects, anti-human trafficking efforts, and COVID-19 relief.
Shibarium, a layer-2 scaling solution for SHIB, plays a significant role in this collaboration. Launched as a beta bridge in July 2023, Shibarium leverages plasma and proof-of-stake (PoS) technology to facilitate token transfers between Shibarium and Ethereum (ETH). This integration ensures smooth and efficient transactions, enhancing the foundation’s operations.
Pacquiao’s foundation announced last fall that it would accept donations in SHIB, incorporating Shibarium into its processes. This move aligns with the foundation’s goal to leverage innovative technologies to maximize its impact. Besides SHIB, the foundation accepts donations in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Dogecoin (DOGE), among others.
On their website, the Manny Pacquiao Foundation accepts a variety of cryptocurrencies, which expands the pool of potential donors. The foundation is now better positioned to embrace cutting-edge financial innovations as a result of this inclusion, which also helps to diversify donor sources.
