Caroline Butler and Sandy Kaul have been chosen by the CFTC to co-chair the newly established Digital Assets Market Subcommittee, CFTC Commissioner Caroline Pham stated. Through this appointment, Butler, the global head of digital assets at BNY Mellon, demonstrated the bank’s commitment to playing a leading role in influencing the future of finance.

Institutional Investments, The Cornerstone of Digital Asset Growth

Sandy Kaul of Franklin Templeton predicted that institutional investments will provide the backbone of the long-term expansion of the digital asset industry in a recent interview with Scott Melker. She emphasized the new trend of institutional interest, assuming that these participants would keep investing in the market even during downturns, laying the groundwork for a solid foundation for the cryptocurrency markets.

According to Kaul, this cycle is crucial to the market’s long-term growth because institutions demonstrate their tenacity and endurance while offering support when retail interest soars during the following bull run.

CFTC’s Recent Approvals and Fidelity’s Spot Bitcoin ETF Bid

The CFTC approved leveraged crypto derivatives products for the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) in a proactive attempt to grow the market for cryptocurrency derivatives. Coincidentally, the CBOE also made a proposal to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on behalf of financial services behemoth Fidelity for a spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund (ETF).

The SEC apparently sent back the document owing to its obscurity and incompleteness, though. Despite this failure, it shows that renowned financial organizations are still interested in investigating cutting-edge goods and services in the digital asset market.
