Crypto.com Launches $100M Campaign Starring Matt Damon

Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com is kicking off a global advertising campaign, thereby looking to take advantage of the continuing crypto bull run.

After a relatively quiet summer, the crypto space gained some new momentum, fueled by the long-anticipated debut of a bitcoin futures exchange-traded fund in the U.S. With its latest marketing efforts, the exchange is pushing its brand in front of a wider mainstream audience.

The campaign is set to run in more than 20 countries for the next couple of months and the exchange has reportedly invested $100 million in it. The campaign is already trending on Twitter under hashtag #FFTB and is shared by  professional athletes and other celebrities such as Carmelo Anthony, Tony Hawk and Karim Benzema.

Crypto.com’s advertisement called “Fortune Favors the Brave”, headlines Hollywood star-actor Matt Damon and is directed by Oscar winning Wally Pfister. The message that the exchange wants to get across is “focused on financial independence and self determination,” CEO Kris Marszalek said in a statement, and is timed just right with the “early stages of mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency.”

The campaign is another example of increasingly aggressive marketing by cryptocurrency exchanges who are battling to get their name out there. Crypto.com is already present in many areas including the Formula 1 and UFC. Crypto derivatives exchange FTX also seems to have all bases covered and this year launched a $20 million U.S. ad campaign featuring football quarterback Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bündchen.
