Coinbase continues to build momentum on both sides of the Atlantic, earning recognition from TIME and securing key regulatory approvals. The exchange was recently listed among TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies of 2025 and also received a major license to operate under new EU rules.

Good to know

  • TIME named Coinbase a “disruptor” in its annual list.
  • Coinbase gained approval under the MiCA framework via Luxembourg.
  • Its stock jumped nearly 80 points in June after key U.S. legislation passed.

Coinbase was featured in TIME’s 2025 list of the 100 Most Influential Companies, credited for driving crypto policy efforts and standing out as a disruptor in the financial space. TIME noted Coinbase’s milestone as the first crypto-related stock added to the S&P 500 index earlier this year. It also pointed to Coinbase’s role in helping push crypto regulation forward in Washington D.C.

The company’s stock performance reflects that growing influence. After the U.S. Senate passed the GENIUS stablecoin bill on June 17, Coinbase shares jumped to a new high of $382. The bill has boosted investor confidence and suggests a more open regulatory environment for digital assets going forward.

TIME wrote, “The company, which in May became the first crypto stock to be added to the bellwether S&P 500 index, is a key driver of the industry’s policy efforts in Washington D.C. If industry-friendly bills are passed, Coinbase stands to become an even bigger hub for US crypto activity.”

Alongside U.S. developments, Coinbase also made progress in the European Union. On June 20, the exchange announced that it secured regulatory approval to offer digital asset services in the EU under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. That license was granted by Luxembourg’s financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier.

Coinbase plans to base its EU operations in Luxembourg, using the new approval to expand across the European market. The move strengthens its global footprint as MiCA begins to shape crypto rules across the region.
