Bitcoin Hits New Record of $72,738 as Week Starts Strong, Ethereum Breaks $4,000

Share

Bitcoin kicked off the week by soaring to another record high, with its value climbing to an unprecedented $72,738, as reported by CoinMarketCap.

In a week of turbulent trading that saw the flagship cryptocurrency hit new highs twice—its first since 2021—the price settled into a more stable pattern over the weekend. Bitcoin is now trading at $72,358.

In parallel, Ethereum crossed the $4,000 mark for the first time since December 2021, reaching $4,079.99, partly driven by Bitcoin’s momentum. It currently trades at $4074.16.

Investors are also eagerly anticipating the next major technical upgrade for the Ethereum network, known as “Dencun,” expected later this week. Historically, the cryptocurrency has experienced a rally leading up to the upgrade day, followed by a sell-off by traders.

With such an electrifying start to the week, we collectively turn our gaze towards the weekend. Are targets of $80,000 for Bitcoin and $4,500 for Ethereum within reach?
