Retired NFL offensive lineman Evan Mathis tried his hands in 2019 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for playing some high roller poker tournaments. Before his trip to the Caribbean, Evan didn’t even have a HendonMob profile but now he has won $278,880 in live cashes to his credit.  He entered the PCA with no live tournament cashes, but it does not mean that the Mathis is a rookie in the game of poker. He used to Play poker during his college days and he was an active player at that time. However, his focus soon changed and he decided to earn a name in NFL. Now that he has retired from NFL, he has decided to spend some of his time in playing poker.

Mathis finished in 35th place among 1,039 players in the $25,000 buy-in PSPC for $86,400 and he finished on sixth place in a $50,000 for $192,480. Mathis thinks of poker as his hobby but he is surrounded by friends who like to play poker.

“I really liked the line-up for the PCA, but I felt that the $25K was sort of a no-brainer based on the structure,” Mathis had told in an interview at a break during the $50K.

“A few of my friends were also playing here, so I decided to come here and play here.”

Some people would see how who is at the table and used to Google my name. Then they recognized me as the football player. I try to use that as my advantage for myself and I make my opponents believe that I had no clue about what I was doing.
