Patrik Antonius has won the 2024 European Poker Tour Monte Carlo €100,000 no-limit hold’em super high roller event. He topped a record field of 72 competitors to take home $2,124,835. This victory was his third with earnings exceeding a million dollars and stands as his second-highest payout, just slightly more than the $2,100,000 he won last spring in a Triton Series event.
Now 43 years old, Antonius has accumulated nearly $21.5 million in earnings, continuing a successful career in both live and online poker. This particular tournament set a new record for participant numbers at the EPT Monte Carlo super high roller, surpassing the previous high of 71 entries set in 2015. A total of $7,544,275 in prize money was distributed among the top 11 finishers.
In heads-up play to clinch the prestigious title, Antonius faced Christoph Vogelsang, another established high-stake poker pro. Antonius started off with a modest chip lead. Although Vogelsang briefly gained the upper hand, Antonius regained control by doubling up with a set of queens against Vogelsang’s top pair of aces. The decisive hand ended when Vogelsang played an Ace-5 against
Antonius’ Ace-9. The board showed a King, two Queens, a four, and a nine, giving Antonius a winning pair of queens and nines, and securing the championship title.
Vogelsang, who took second place, walked away with $1,370,844, adding to his career earnings, which now total over $34 million.
