Nine players returned Monday evening on the third and final day of the $10K No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship, all hunting the bracelet and the $273,335, with Jason Mercier being the chipleader.
Mercier’s previous bracelets were won in 2009 ($1,500 Pot Limit Omaha for $237,462), 2011 ($5,000 Pot Limit Omaha – Six Handed for $619,575) and in 2015 ($5,000 No Limit Hold’em Six Handed for $633,357). This win might not be the biggest score, but rumours go he has made a lot more money with this one thanks to some hefty braceletsidebets.
Mercier had some serious company on the final table, with the likes of Stephen Chidwick (who already won over $1 million in 2016) and Mike Watson. The latter managed to reach heads-up play with Mercier, were the two battled it out for almost two hours.
In the final hand, Mike Watson raises the button to 100,000 and Jason Mercier calls from the big blind. Both players draw one, Mercier checks, Watson bets 200,000, Mercier check-raises all-in for effectively 1,550,000, and Watson tanks for about 60 seconds before he makes the call for his tournament life.
