Francis Anderson finally clinched his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet, topping a massive field of 4,263 entries. This victory in the $800 buy-in Independence Day Celebration no-limit hold’em event earned him $501,040, his largest payout to date.

New York poker pro Francis Anderson has been on the brink of winning a WSOP bracelet multiple times. In 2019, he finished fourth in the $2,620 ‘Marathon’ event. His next significant performance was in the 2022 ‘Monster Stack’ event, where he secured third place and a career-high payout of $449,912. Recently, he placed fourth in the 2023 Poker Hall of Fame bounty event. Finally, in 2024, Anderson achieved his long-awaited win at the WSOP.

The event, held from July 3-5, drew 4,263 entries, creating a prize pool of $3,630,213. The top 365 finishers earned payouts, with five-figure sums or more for the top 53. Notable players who ran deep included John Riordan, Mark Seif, Ari Engel, Benjamin Ector, and Martin Zamani.

In heads-up play for the title, Anderson faced Brent Lee, who initially had a significant lead. Anderson’s fortunes changed when his A-J won a critical flip against Lee’s small pocket pair, narrowing the gap. He later took the lead with pocket kings against Lee’s top pair of queens. Anderson’s call on the river moved him ahead.

The final hand saw Lee shove from the button with Q♦2♦. Anderson called with 4♠4♦. The board ran out 10♣9♥6♠3♠5♥, securing the win for Anderson. Lee, the runner-up, earned $323,080, his best career payday.

With this victory, Anderson’s lifetime live earnings have surpassed $3.2 million. This win not only adds a prestigious bracelet to his achievements but also marks a significant milestone in his poker career.
