Tencent Cloud and Tencent Games’ Anti-Cheat Expert (ACE) established a strategic partnership with Cathedral Studios at Gamescom 2024 in Cologne. The Bornless, the first action-horror first-person shooter (FPS) game by Cathedral Studios, would have its gameplay enhanced as a result of the cooperation. Cathedral Studios, which is renowned for incorporating cutting-edge technology into their works, is dedicated to giving their expanding player base a safe and equitable environment.
The Bornless, set for playtests in 2024, has already garnered significant attention with over 200,000 wishlists on Steam and more than 100,000 playtest requests. This early success highlights the game’s strong appeal among gamers. However, the dynamic gaming market demands robust security measures to maintain player trust and game longevity. With FPS games often vulnerable to cheating, Cathedral Studios has teamed up with Tencent Cloud and ACE to tackle these challenges head-on.
ACE delivers a wide range of game security solutions, offering multi-dimensional protection and detection throughout the entire lifecycle of PC and mobile games. Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience and an extensive database of cheat samples, ACE utilizes AI and big data technologies to identify and counter various threats, including new cheats like Direct Memory Access (DMA) and AI-based hacks. This comprehensive security toolkit is vital for developers striving to maintain a fair and competitive gaming environment. Currently, ACE supports millions of players across hundreds of games, effectively reducing cheating incidents in both Tencent and non-Tencent titles.
Fred Sun, General Manager of Europe at Tencent Cloud International, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “Tencent Cloud and Anti-Cheat Expert are excited to support Cathedral Studios to maintain a fair gaming environment for The Bornless’ players. Leveraging Tencent Cloud’s extensive experience in supporting gaming companies, we aim to detect the latest types of cheats in the fastest and most effective way to prevent malicious players from causing trouble in the game.”
Josh Palumbo, Head of Product at Cathedral Studios, echoed this sentiment: “Our goal is to collaborate with Anti-Cheat Expert and Tencent Cloud to develop and share best practices in cultivating healthy gaming communities and positive player interactions. We aim to create a gaming environment where players can enjoy and engage with each other safely.”
