Splinterlands Updates Voucher System with Key Changes

Share

Splinterlands is rolling out a significant revamp to its Voucher system, starting on August 15th. The changes aim to simplify the gaming experience, especially for new players, by introducing an in-game DEC/Voucher liquidity pool and eliminating the option to trade Vouchers on decentralized exchanges. The update follows a community-approved proposal from July, which suggested these adjustments to streamline how players interact with the game.

One of the key changes is that Voucher rewards from Validator and SPS staking will now be directly distributed in-game, bypassing the previous system of sending them to the SPS Chain. This change effectively merges the SPS Chain Voucher and in-game VOUCHER-G into a single in-game token. As a result, the Voucher/SPS Hive-Engine liquidity pool will no longer offer rewards.

Additionally, Vouchers will no longer be tradable on decentralized exchanges like Tribaldex and Hive Engine. Players can still transfer Vouchers to the Web3 title, but in-game Vouchers won’t be transferable outside to these exchanges. This change allows Splinterlands to establish an in-game liquidity pool while aligning with regulatory requirements.

Starting August 15th, Voucher-based discounts for Validator licenses will be discontinued, shifting more focus to the utility of Dark Energy Crystals (DEC). Players have until August 31st to use Vouchers for purchasing Wild Passes and Mage Weapons. Following that, on September 3rd, the option to buy energy with Vouchers and the Voucher-based discounts for Rebellion booster packs will end. To balance this, the price of Rebellion booster packs will drop to 4000 DEC or Credits.

The September 3rd update also introduces more changes aimed at enhancing Voucher utility. A new in-game DEC/Voucher liquidity pool will allow players to obtain Vouchers without relying on external decentralized exchanges. The Voucher Store will also open, featuring a new card available for purchase with Vouchers. However, a 12.5% burn tax will apply to all Voucher transfers between players.

Another notable change is the closure of the Splinterstorm Skin Shop on September 3rd. Players have until then to acquire their desired skins before they are gone for good.

In addition to these Voucher system updates, Splinterlands is engaging its community with several voting polls on topics like win trading policies, tournament entry fees, and ranked league gating. These polls are crucial for gathering feedback and guiding future updates.

On August 15th, Splinterlands is also expanding the Rebellion set with 43 new soulbound reward cards, introducing fresh abilities. Owners of Chaos Legion soulbound reward cards will now have the option to unbind and trade them as assets.
