Somnia Signs Sparkball as First Major Game Ahead of Mainnet Launch

Share

New EVM Layer 1 blockchain Somnia has unveiled an aggressive content strategy ahead of its mainnet launch, starting with the addition of Sparkball—a 4v4 PC-based sport brawler developed by US studio Opti Games.

Originally announced for Solana and later planned for Monad, Sparkball shifted to Somnia following an unexpected meeting between Opti Games and Somnia founder Paul Thomas at ETHDenver.

The game is currently running its pre-season event, set to conclude on June 9, and has already partnered with gaming guilds including YGG, Paladins, and Tempest.

Sparkball is part of a broader web3 ecosystem called Sparkadia, which manages the game’s IP, community, and overall universe. The project recently secured $2 million in funding from investors such as L1D, CMS Holdings, Impossible Finance, and YGG, and has also integrated with blockchain infrastructure provider Sequence.
