Solihull to Host 2025 Rocket League Championship Series, Bringing Global Esports Event to West Midlands

The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS), a major event in the competitive gaming industry, is scheduled to visit Solihull from March 27 to 30, 2025, with its intense esports competition. To welcome the RLCS Major 1 Birmingham event, which will attract thousands of fans from all over the world, Solihull Council has partnered with leading industry players at bp pulse LIVE.

RLCS Major 1 in Solihull; A Global Esports Highlight

RLCS Major 1 Birmingham promises a thrilling experience for esports fans, with 16 elite Rocket League teams vying for the first RLCS trophy of 2025. On March 29 and 30, these top-tier teams will take to the arena, showcasing their skill in Rocket League’s high-octane “football-with-rocket-powered-cars” format. Tickets for this action-packed weekend will soon be available through Live Nation, sparking excitement for UK esports enthusiasts.

Solihull Council’s Leader, Councillor Ian Courts, expressed enthusiasm, saying, “Esports may be a new concept for many of us, but it’s fast becoming an industry of huge economic significance. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome the RLCS Major 1 Birmingham to our borough, in partnership with the British Esports Federation and BLAST.” Courts highlighted the anticipated boost to local tourism and the positive impact on Solihull’s economy as fans from all over arrive to witness the event.

In a build-up to the main RLCS event, the British Esports Federation will launch the British Esports Cup, open to all UK residents over the age of 13. With a prize pool of £5,000, this national Rocket League tournament allows aspiring players to compete for cash rewards. Chester King, President of British Esports, said, “Hosting the RLCS Major 1 in Birmingham is a landmark moment for UK esports, and we’re thrilled to see another world-class event hosted in Great Britain.”

The weekend will also host WM Esports Unwrapped, an industry summit gathering esports and business leaders to discuss growth opportunities within the sector. Supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority and funding from the Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund, the summit aims to foster connections between industry leaders and local businesses.
