A pioneer in Solana-based Layer-2 infrastructure for blockchain gaming, Sonic SVM recently made history on TikTok by launching the first Web3 game with an integrated wallet. By making the onboarding process for TikTok users easier, the game SonicX seeks to completely transform user engagement on the well-known video-sharing site.
Inspired by the popularity of “tap-to-earn” games on Telegram, such as Notcoin and Hamster Kombat, SonicX is a creative HTML5 clicker game. The new game is easily integrated into the TikTok app, so users can start playing right away. Players create rings by tapping the screen, and those rings are safely stored on the chain. Gaining access to other blockchain-based incentives, such as bitcoins and NFTs, is possible via gathering these rings.
A standout feature of SonicX is its embedded wallet, which supports account abstraction. This design allows users to recover their passwords without the hassle of managing private keys. Players can easily log in using their TikTok accounts, ensuring that their achievements and collected rings are accurately recorded on the blockchain. As users climb the leaderboard and tackle daily challenges, they can also earn rewards for referring friends, enhancing the social gaming aspect.
Sonic SVM is positioned at the forefront of developing Solana’s blockchain gaming ecosystem, supported by $12 million in funding. The company has created a unique infrastructure that allows developers to build game-specific rollups, or Layer-2 networks. These networks bundle transactions off-chain, enabling rapid processing at lower costs.
While Solana is recognized for its strength in decentralized finance (DeFi), it has been relatively overlooked by game developers. This trend can be attributed to the emergence of gaming-centric blockchains like Immutable X. However, Sonic SVM’s innovative infrastructure, which utilizes the Sonic Virtual Machine and HyperGrid— a robust horizontal scaling framework—greatly enhances Solana’s performance, making it a prime candidate for Web3 gaming.
One significant advantage of the SonicX embedded wallet is that users can export their private keys for use with other Web3 applications within the Solana ecosystem. This feature adds flexibility and expands the utility of the wallet for players.
Chris Zhu, Co-founder & CEO, stated, “The way we simplified the SonicX login flow on TikTok allows us to tap into a totally new set of users globally. We are eager to further improve the user experience in TikTok and provide the same capabilities to tons of Solana applications.”
Since its launch last month, SonicX has onboarded over 120,000 TikTok users into the Web3 landscape, demonstrating the significant potential of account abstraction wallets in driving Web3 adoption.
