A substantial funding from the Arbitrum Foundation has been obtained by Open Campus, a pioneer in decentralized education, to launch EDU Chain. This creative Layer 3 blockchain is the first to use blockchain technology to improve educational tools and material, and it was created especially for the education sector.
EDU Chain seeks to combine the ownership possibilities of blockchain technology with educational procedures by leveraging Arbitrum Orbit Stack technology to create a platform on which developers may construct decentralized applications (dapps) specifically designed for students and teachers. Through the use of the vast network of more than 60 educational and Web3 gaming companies affiliated with Open Campus, this alliance aims to transform the way that academic achievements are documented and accessed.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands and a member of the EDU Foundation Council, expressed his enthusiasm: “This grant is an exciting step forward in the vision of Open Campus and EDU Chain to use blockchain technology to address current problems and challenges in education. The support of and collaboration with the Arbitrum Foundation positions us to redefine the education industry, leveraging the power of decentralization and the Arbitrum ecosystem to enhance access to and opportunities in education for both learners and educators.”
EDU Chain’s Layer 3 rollup, utilizing the Arbitrum Orbit Stack, ensures efficient transaction settlements on Arbitrum’s Layer 2 solutions. This technical setup promises Ethereum-level security for educational transactions while offering greater scalability, essential for supporting 20 million learners and numerous educational apps.
In addition to technological advancements, the collaboration involves Open Campus’s participation in the Arbitrum Ambassador Program and various hackathon competitions. These initiatives aim to encourage the development community to contribute to this educational blockchain, fostering innovation and engagement.
Moreover, the initiative plans to expand by linking with 96 active Arbitrum ambassadors and 26 universities. This extensive community involvement is intended to enrich the educational offerings on EDU Chain, ensuring a broad base of academic resources and tools is available to users.
Through this groundbreaking initiative, Open Campus and the Arbitrum Foundation are set to transform the education landscape, making it more secure, scalable, and accessible. The integration of blockchain technology into education not only enhances the learning experience but also opens up new opportunities for educators and learners alike.
