Line Next and Kaia are preparing to launch a new mini-dapp portal within Line Messenger by the end of January. This initiative will make a range of blockchain-based games and services accessible directly within the messaging platform. Users will also have access to streamlined tools for wallet creation, asset management, and transaction services.
The project draws comparisons to Telegram’s success in 2024, where mini-dapps within the messaging platform contributed to its rapid growth. For Line Messenger, these games and services will be powered by the Kaia blockchain, a network formed through the merger of Klaytn and Finschia.
Initially, 20 games were announced for the portal, but the list has grown to 30, all set to launch by the end of January. The lineup includes a variety of titles, such as AKEFish, Captain Tsubasa (Minttown), Farm Frens, Midnight Survivors, and SuperWalk. These games cater to different interests, from strategy and adventure to casual gameplay.
Beyond this initial offering, Kaia and Line Next aim to add 120 more titles by mid-2025, significantly expanding the portal’s catalog and giving users more choices.
The Kaia blockchain will serve as the foundation for these mini-dapps, much like how Telegram uses the TON blockchain. This integration enables seamless interactions with blockchain features, such as asset ownership and transactions, without requiring users to leave the app.
The portal’s design focuses on accessibility, making it easy for users to get started, even if they are new to blockchain technology. By combining gaming and blockchain into an intuitive experience, Line Messenger hopes to attract both casual gamers and blockchain enthusiasts.
The mini-dapp portal launch comes at a time when messaging platforms are increasingly competing to integrate blockchain-based solutions. By partnering with Kaia, Line Messenger is positioning itself as a leader in combining social messaging and gaming. The success of this initiative could set a new standard for how blockchain games are integrated into mainstream platforms.
As more titles are added and the platform matures, it will be interesting to see how this venture shapes the future of blockchain-based gaming and its adoption by the broader audience.
