The Gujarat Titans have made a significant move by becoming the first Indian Premier League (IPL) team to venture into E-sports. Their inaugural tournament, “Battlegrounds Mobile India-Titans Rising,” features an impressive prize pool of ₹22 lakh, promising thrilling matches and intense competition. This initiative marks a new era for both the team and the E-sports industry in India.
Kicking off on October 10, the “Titans Rising” tournament aims to engage E-sports fans with exhilarating gameplay. The event will feature several elimination rounds, ultimately leading to a Grand Finale. In Phase 1, from October 10 to 15, five offline open qualifiers will take place. These qualifiers welcome all aspiring teams, offering them a chance to showcase their skills on a prominent stage. So far, 2,048 teams, comprising over 10,000 gamers, have signed up to compete in this tournament.
From the qualifiers, 32 teams will advance to the pre-quarters phase, where they will battle against 32 invited teams consisting of established players. This setup creates a highly competitive environment, with a total of 48 teams vying for the championship. The competition will heat up in Phase 2, featuring Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and ultimately culminating in a Grand Finale where the top 16 teams will compete for the title of Ultimate Champion.
Col. Arvinder Singh, COO of Gujarat Titans, highlighted the significance of this tournament, stating, “With the IOC set to hold the Olympic E-sports in 2025 and the Asian Games featuring E-sports as a medal event since 2022, it has gained widespread international recognition. With ‘Titans Rising,’ our goal is to engage fans and broaden our brand presence. This tournament will create opportunities for aspiring players to compete with professionals, while also allowing our fans to tap into their competitive spirit in BGMI.”
Notable E-sports teams, including Revenant E-sports, Team IQOO SouL, and Team Orangutan, will participate, alongside marquee gamers like Sc0utOp, Omega, and Goblin.
To ensure maximum excitement and exposure, all matches starting from the Pre-Quarters on October 16 will be streamed live on the Gujarat Titans’ YouTube channel.
