Adam Weitsman Acquires HV MTL NFT Collection from Faraway Games

Share

The HV-MTL robots are once again changing hands in the NFT world. Originally launched by Yuga Labs in March 2023, then picked up by Faraway Games a year later, the collection has now been acquired by entrepreneur Adam Weitsman, a name well known to web3 circles.

Good to know

  • HV-MTL was first launched by Yuga Labs in March 2023.
  • Floor price jumped 3x on the news before settling at a 50% gain.
  • Weitsman also owns the Golden Key NFT from Yuga’s Dookey Dash.

Weitsman confirmed the acquisition on X, adding that he’ll work alongside fellow collector and web3 developer Gabe8bit to give the collection fresh direction. The plan includes ensuring HV-MTL becomes part of the evolving Otherside metaverse, a key piece of Yuga Labs’ long-term vision.

His involvement isn’t new to Yuga assets. Back in 2023, Weitsman paid $1 million for the 1-of-1 Golden Key NFT from the Dookey Dash game. More recently, he’s been building out his digital portfolio with a bulk purchase of over 5,000 Otherdeeds, Mega Kodas and Weapon Kodas directly from Yuga.

Why the Sale?

Faraway Games had picked up HV-MTL in April 2024 with the idea of plugging them into its titles like Shatterline, Rebel Skies and Villains. But as the studio shifted focus toward AI agents and its Fchain blockchain, the robot collection no longer aligned with its priorities, leaving the door open for a new buyer.

The NFT market didn’t wait long to respond. News of the transfer sent the HV-MTL floor price soaring, tripling almost overnight. While prices have since cooled, the collection still sits at around 0.035 ETH (roughly $150), a 50% boost from pre-sale levels.

Collectors see Weitsman’s track record and strong ties to Yuga’s ecosystem as a positive signal that HV-MTL will play a bigger role in upcoming projects, especially inside the Otherside metaverse.
