The International Esports Federation (IESF) has strengthened its presence by welcoming five new member nations. With the addition of Botswana, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Tanzania, the federation now boasts a record 151 members. This milestone highlights IESF’s dedication to expanding the global esports ecosystem. Driving Growth in African Esports The growth of esports in Africa has been accelerating, especially following the successful African Esports Championship in Casablanca. The latest additions to IESF's network further underscore the region’s ambition to become a key player in the international esports arena. National esports organizations will represent each of the five new countries: Botswana Electronic Sports Federation Central African Association of Electronic Games Equatorial Guinean Association of Electronic Sports Gabon Esports and Associated Disciplines eSports Federation of Tanzania These organizations will support the development of esports by providing opportunities for local athletes, teams, and gaming communities. Additionally, they will contribute to broader regional participation in international competitions. Boban Totovski, IESF General Secretary, celebrated the expansion, stating, “Welcoming these five nations into the IESF family is a proud moment for us. It reflects the continued expansion of esports and the dedication of national federations to providing opportunities for athletes and communities.” IESF’s support includes assisting its members in creating sustainable esports infrastructures and promoting esports as a legitimate sporting discipline. The federation’s initiatives aim to offer inclusive opportunities, from grassroots tournaments to global championships. With the 2025 season approaching, the newly added nations will have the chance to participate in IESF events, contributing to the federation’s long-term mission of fostering esports growth worldwide.
