Competing in a Porsche 911 GT3 R, Rogers delivered an exceptional performance at the virtual Circuit de Spa. His victory solidifies his reputation as a leading figure in sim racing and propels him towards the eSports World Cup (EWC) in Saudi Arabia. Rogers, representing the Porsche Coanda eSports Racing team, entered the final round of the ESL R1 championship as the clear favorite. He did not disappoint, executing a dramatic last-minute attack to secure his third consecutive win. This triumph placed him at the top of the ESL R1 Drivers’ rankings with 183 points, guaranteeing his spot in the EWC finals. Scheduled for August 22-25 in Riyadh, the EWC promises intense competition with 48 drivers vying for a substantial $100,000 prize purse. The winning driver will take home $25,000, while Team Porsche could win up to $170,000 in the team competition. Rogers’ participation is expected to attract significant attention, particularly from Australian sports bettors who have traditionally focused on horse racing. eSports Gains Momentum Globally The rising popularity of eSports, particularly through events like the EWC, has caught the attention of global brands and the betting sector. Integrated energy and chemicals company Aramco recently announced an extension of their partnership with the eSports World Cup Foundation (EWCF). Aramco’s sponsorship of the EWC in Riyadh builds on their previous support for events like Gamers Without Borders and Gamers8: The Land of Heroes. Aramco's involvement aligns with their long-term goals of promoting economic development and diversification in Saudi Arabia. Their partnership with the EWCF aims to provide new opportunities for young people, impart critical educational skills, and contribute to a dynamic Saudi economy. This collaboration also seeks to make a lasting positive impact on the world of eSports, showcasing Saudi talent and inspiring youth through gaming. The EWC’s grand finale will coincide with the second edition of the New Global Sport Conference (NGSC) 2024, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh on August 24-25. Themed ‘The Future of Fandom,’ the conference will explore how fan engagement is transforming the gaming industry, creating opportunities for unique experiences, innovative revenue streams, and technological advancements. The NGSC aims to support the growth of gaming and eSports in Saudi Arabia, aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to become a global gaming hub. This year’s event, featuring multiple stages and workshops, will host around 800 guests, bringing together industry leaders to discuss the future of eSports, sports, and gaming. Following the success of last year’s NGSC, which announced the launch of the EWC, the 2024 conference will include a grand closing ceremony and the newly announced eSports Awards.
