World’s most popular online poker tournament celebrating 15 years

The world’s most popular online tournament, the PokerStars Sunday Million is celebrating its 15th anniversary this coming Sunday March 21st and to celebrate, PokerStars is hosting a special 15th Anniversary edition. The tournament will have a buy-in of $ 215 with a guaranteed prize pool of a whopping $ 12.5 million. The top two players will be guaranteed a prize over $1 million, unless a deal is made.

Last year’s 14th Anniversary edition ended up being the biggest tournament PokerStars had ever hosted with a prize pool of over $18.6 million, 93,016 players and a first prize of $1,192,802.46.

PokerStars offers a few ways to qualify for the 15th Anniversary edition with (direct) satellites being offered from $1.10 to $55.

There are also special $4 and $22 buy-in Spin & Go’s running daily, where tickets to the 15th Anniversary Sunday Million can be won.

While last year’s record-breaking figures were largely due to lockdown measures, we could be similar figures in this year’s edition. Although the future is looking comparatively brighter this time around, we could see similar numbers in March.
