Jungleman Wins REG Festival Highroller Tournament

Share

Daniel “Jungleman” Cates is one of the most famous players in the world, well known for having played the biggest games online as well as having participated in major cash games and tournaments around the globe.

Last week the high-profile poker player announced on Twitter that he was on his way back from a cash game in Manila, after having lost $5,000,000. He also duly noted that he had to go back to grind $5/$10 cash games online to make some of the money he lost back.

It seems that that didn’t go according to plan, because Cates won a tournament in Czech Republic this weekend. The tournament was the €10,600 buy-in highroller at the REG Festival which is being held at the King’s Casino in Rozvadov.

Cates eventually beat his final opponent, Andreas Eiler from Austraia, after the two players got all-in preflop. Cates held a pair of eights, while Eiler held A3 off-suit and with no help for Eiler, Cates’ eights held and he took home the first prize of €83,000.

While it’s not anywhere near the money he lost in Manila, it still shows that Cates is one of the leading poker players in the world across multiple formats.
