BetMGM Eyes Shared Liquidity in Online Poker Expansion Strategy

By implying that pooled liquidity would soon be introduced between its online poker sites in New Jersey and Michigan, BetMGM is preparing for a big move. Should this strategic strategy be put into action, BetMGM may become the third multi-state online poker network in the US, behind WSOP.com and PokerStars.

Pennsylvania is home to BetMGM, although the state has not yet ratified the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), which allows players to play online poker from different states. BetMGM Poker’s shared liquidity strategy has no set timetable; the most recent statement just states that it is “imminent,” which creates a sense of suspense.

BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt emphasized the company’s continued dedication to digital gaming at a recent business update, stressing that online poker is an essential part of its strategic goal. Through partnerships with MGM Resorts hotels, the operator has been aggressively marketing online poker by hosting live tournaments at locations like Aria and Borgata.

Strategic Expansion and Regional Opportunities

It’s clear that BetMGM is eager to take advantage of fresh chances for market development, particularly since West Virginia has joined the MSIGA. This action implies that BetMGM may soon expand the geographic scope of its online poker products. In addition, state authorities and tribes have shown interest in joining the MSIGA since internet gambling and poker became legal in Connecticut. This might open up new development opportunities for MGM and other operators.

For BetMGM, the combination of the player pools from New Jersey and Michigan is expected to provide a number of advantages. It is anticipated that a more cohesive player base would lead to bigger prize pools and more players in cash games and tournaments. A similar merger was successfully completed by PokerStars in January, bringing together players from several jurisdictions and increasing traffic to cash games.
