The Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Manila 2024 is all set to bring back the excitement and shine of one of the most famous poker games in the world. PokerStars is leading the way, making sure this year’s APPT Manila is even better than before. They’re planning for it to happen in the fancy Okada Manila and promise it will be bigger with more prizes than ever. There’s also a new exciting part called the APPT Manila Championship that’s going to make the competition and fun even better.
Cedric Billot, Associate Director of Live Events at PokerStars, is focusing on making everything perfect. He said, “The APPT circuit, established in 2007, quickly set the standard for poker tours in Asia through top-notch organization and impressive venues. The 2024 APPT Manila, taking place in Okada Casino’s new conference area, will be one of the most expansive APPT events, promising an exceptional experience.” He wants the 2024 APPT Manila to be remembered as a big moment in poker history and for that a new place in Okada Casino will be used to fit in the biggest crowd for APPT ever.
APPT15 Manila will have lots of games from July 24 to August 5, 2024, at Cove Manila and then the special APPT Manila Championship in October. PokerStars is putting in PHP 259 million (about USD $4.66 million) in total prize money for both parts, setting a new high for poker tournaments in the Asia-Pacific area.
Byron Yip, who runs Okada Manila as its President and COO, is also very excited about APPT Manila coming back. He said, “At Okada Manila, hosting the APPT Manila fills us with great pride, as it becomes a key event for top poker players worldwide. This collaboration highlights our leading status among Asia’s gaming and entertainment hotspots, showcasing our efforts to make Manila a top pick for premier entertainment.” It is clear that he’s proud to have such a big poker event there, showing that Okada Manila is a top place for poker and fun in Asia.
But there is More. The APPT Manila Championship is happening in October, and this tournament series is another level up. It’s running from October 18-27, 2024, at the Coral Lounge in Okada Manila. There’s a massive ₱140 Million (that’s over $2.5 Million) guaranteed to be won!
Looking back at the APPT’s history from when it started in 2007, through its biggest moments, and now coming back, it’s clear it’s played a big role in showing off Asia’s poker talent and the growing interest in poker there. The 2024 APPT Manila, with its fancy setup and new improvements, is starting a new chapter. PokerStars, with Cedric Billot’s lead and working with Okada Manila, is not just bringing back the APPT; they’re making it even more amazing, promising an event that will remind everyone why the APPT is so special and set the stage for its bright future.
Since it began in 2007, the APPT has been important in promoting poker in Asia and Australia, starting with games in Manila, Seoul, and Sydney. The first season saw winners in each city, and as the APPT grew, it added new places and big events, including the Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) and the Macau Poker Cup. Working together with other big poker tours around the world made the APPT even more famous.
The APPT was at its biggest in 2014, with 11 events and over $25 million given out in prizes. The biggest event was the APPT Macau, which had a huge prize pool and was won by Jian Chen from China.
So, now, after a short break, the APPT is back, showing off the exciting poker scene in Asia again. And this year, with the APPT Manila looking so good, it seems like the perfect time for the APPT to show what it’s really capable of!
