Leading metaverse platform, The Sandbox, has launched a new experience dedicated to the iconic 90s rapper, The Notorious B.I.G. This innovative venture is a result of a collaboration between The Sandbox, Warner Music Group, and the estate of The Notorious B.I.G., also known as Christopher Wallace.
This new feature in The Sandbox is a tribute to the Brooklyn-born rapper, who gained immense fame in the 90s before his untimely death in 1997. Named “Breakin’ B.I.G.,” the experience allows players to interact with a digital avatar of the rapper in a 2D, arcade-style setting. The game offers various quests where players can navigate the virtual world of Brooklyn, assisting the community and even facing off against B.I.G.’s rivals.
Elliot Osagie, the Chief Strategy Officer of The Notorious B.I.G. Estate, emphasizes the significance of this collaboration. He states, “No artist represents the style of the 90s more than Biggie.” He adds that this initiative not only caters to long-time fans but also introduces Biggie’s legacy to a new generation in ways that align with his brand and artistic vision.
Moreover, this partnership extends beyond the game. It includes the launch of a new NFT avatar collection and an update to Warner Music Group’s social hub. Sebastien Borget, COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox, expresses his excitement about this unique Brooklyn-themed, arcade-inspired environment. He looks forward to players engaging with Biggie’s character in new and immersive ways, exploring a 90s adventure in the game. He said:
“I’m excited for our players to explore a rich Brooklyn environment with an arcade-inspired feel unlike anything we’ve done before. “Fans will interact with Biggie in entirely new ways as they immerse themselves in a throwback 90s adventure.”
