Leading esports company Team Liquid has improved their fan interaction approach by relaunching on the Sui blockchain from Mysten Labs. The website, which was once known as Liquid+, has changed its name to MyBlue and introduced users to Blue, a cute mascot that was modeled by Team Liquid’s recognizable horse emblem.
MyBlue offers two different approaches to accommodate both new and returning users. The normal (non-blockchain) version, which lets users do missions for experience points (XP) and awards, is an option for fans. On the other hand, choosing MyBlue gives them access to their own special soulbound NFT avatar of Blue. Fans can add different digital things to their avatars as they level up and advance.
Behind the scenes, each user is assigned a custodial Sui wallet using Mysten Labs’ innovative zkLogin technology. Importantly, fans log in through familiar social media accounts, eliminating the need for complex seed phrases or awareness of the public address of their wallets.
Quests on MyBlue involve a well-rounded mix of activities, encouraging users to connect via X, Steam, Discord, and Twitch. Additionally, interacting with Team Liquid streams, playing games on Steam, and providing feedback contributes to the gaming experience.
To commemorate the launch of MyBlue, Team Liquid is hosting a celebratory event on November 14th from noon to 4 PM PT on twitch.tv/teamliquid. Fans are in for a treat, as they will have the opportunity to earn prizes by participating in a massive digital crane game. Furthermore, fans can enter to win the Ultimate TL Fandom Kit, which includes a shopping spree at the Team Liquid store, an Alienware peripherals package, and a custom Blue plushie accompanied by a special MyBlue item.
“Thanks to our partnership with Mysten Labs, we’ve taken the best parts of Liquid+ and upgraded it by integrating Sui to make the ultimate fan platform. Fans show up for us, and MyBlue will enable us to keep showing up for them by offering amazing experiences and unique rewards. I can’t wait for all our fans to get their own Blue,” stated Steve Arhancet, co-CEO of Team Liquid.
Anthony Palma, the head of gaming partnerships at Mysten Labs, shared his enthusiasm as well: “Through integrating Sui, Team Liquid fans will have a frictionless journey on MyBlue, acquiring collectibles to showcase their fandom without the need for a deep understanding of the underlying blockchain technology the platform is built on.”
Team Liquid’s MyBlue initiative represents a significant step in reshaping how esports organizations engage with their communities and leverage blockchain technology to create more connected and rewarding experiences.
