Symbiogenesis, a blockchain game developed by Square Enix, the company best known for the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games, is adopting a new Ethereum scaling technique. Their method of minting NFT characters has undergone a substantial modification as a result of this adjustment.
The next round of NFT character minting will take place on Ethereum’s layer-2 network, Arbitrum, according to a Thursday announcement from the publisher. In the Ethereum mainnet, this comes after the first character minting.
Square Enix explained the switch in a tweet from the official Symbiogenesis account: “For Chapter 2, we’ve adopted Arbitrum, reducing the gas fees to about 1/1000 of the previous cost (around 1.3 yen per bid).”
The switch to Arbitrum is intended to increase player cost-effectiveness of transactions. Character NFTs from the past were created on Ethereum, while other in-game NFT resources made use of Polygon, an additional Ethereum scaling network.
It’s uncertain if Square Enix will switch entirely to Arbitrum or keep utilizing Polygon for select elements. This strategic choice will probably be influenced by how well Arbitrum performs and how economical it is in comparison to Polygon.
Square Enix hopes to improve the gaming experience by implementing Arbitrum in order to reduce transaction costs and boost the effectiveness of its blockchain operations.
