Plans for Space Nation Online, the ground-breaking massively multiplayer online role-playing game, have been revealed by Los Angeles-based game company Space Nation. The game offers a customized gaming experience unlike anything else, thanks to its use of cutting-edge generative AI.
Veteran video game developers Jerome Wu and Tony Tang founded Space Nation in 2019, and since then, well-known people like media mogul Marco Weber and director Roland Emmerich have backed the organization. As CEO, Wu expressed enthusiasm about the AI integration, saying that “it redefines how personal narratives unfold within the MMORPG universe.”
The cutting-edge AI model used by Space Nation customizes gameplay for each player and modifies storylines according to their success. Wu emphasized that using a “writing team composed entirely of humans” would not be able to produce such individualized experiences. Space Nation guarantees participants of ethically generated training data, even if the AI model’s intricacies are yet unknown.
Players may be assured by Space Nation that despite the focus on AI, a committed team of human authors will construct important storyline aspects, resulting in rich and engaging storytelling.
A crew system mechanism is introduced in Space Nation Online, giving players the ability to lead a group of individuals with different abilities and characteristics. Crew members change when players take on tasks, molding their own backstories and abilities.
Each crew member in Space Nation Online will be associated with a player-owned digital asset, or NFT, which will provide exclusive advantages like airdrops. This is an homage to Web 3. The gaming ecosystem benefits from increased player ownership and engagement thanks to this integration.
In order to prepare for a beta launch in March, Space Nation intends to start testing the AI integration on Discord later this month. With an unmatched gaming experience promised, Space Nation Online is scheduled to launch officially in the fall of 2024.
