Proof of Play, a U.S.-based developer, has announced that Season 3 of its fully onchain game Pirate Nation will kick off on November 14. This season introduces new ways for players to engage and earn, expanding the play-to-earn model with enhanced features and reward opportunities.
In Season 3, players can now earn points for both in-game activities and staking PIRATE, the game’s Ethereum-based token. To encourage long-term participation, Proof of Play is rewarding players who carry over PIRATE token rewards from prior seasons with higher multipliers. Additionally, Pirate Nation has raised its level caps, allowing pirates to level up to 35 and ships to reach level 5, adding depth to the gameplay experience.
Proof of Play plans to introduce guilds in future updates, hinting at more collaborative gameplay down the line. However, unlike previous seasons, holding Founder Pirates NFTs will no longer directly contribute to players’ scores. Instead, Proof of Play has created a separate Collector leaderboard with dedicated rewards for NFT holders. Additionally, a Social leaderboard will reward players for engagement on social media, including likes, retweets, and referrals.
Since the game’s launch, Pirate Nation has gained momentum, doubling its player base between Seasons 1 and 2. Proof of Play has noted over 350 million transactions on its Apex and Boss L3 blockchains, establishing them as two of the highest-volume rollup blockchains, with only Coinbase’s Base blockchain seeing higher volume.
“With the launch of Season 3, we’re moving closer to realizing our vision for Proof of Play as an advanced onchain infrastructure that supports millions of gamers,” said Proof of Play CEO Amitt Mahajan. He highlighted the distinctiveness of the Proof of Play engine, adding, “The Proof of Play engine, which powers Pirate Nation, isn’t just another gaming chain — it’s a cutting-edge onchain game engine designed to enable developers to build games onchain faster than offchain. We’re developing a powerful, decentralized foundation for the next generation of onchain games, starting with Pirate Nation.”
