With Pixels’ groundbreaking Play-to-Airdrop 2.0 campaign coming to an end, the virtual gaming community is eagerly awaiting the much-awaited debut of the PIXEL token. Players could climb the in-game leaderboard throughout the campaign, which used the Ethereum sidechain Ronin, and compete to win the coveted PIXEL tokens. As the campaign came to an end on January 19 at 3 p.m. ET, Pixels creator Luke Barwikowski gave details on the next token distribution.
The completion of the Play-to-Airdrop 2.0 campaign is a critical time, as Barwikowski confirmed in a recent livestream, saying, “This is the last chance to earn the PIXEL token before we do the token generation event.” During the concluding phase, 8,000 players will get PIXEL tokens: 7,000 will be picked at random from the leaderboard, and 1,000 will be chosen at random from among those who earned at least 3,000 in-game points during the campaign.
Barwikowski reassured the community that attempts are being made to detect and remove any possible “bots” from the airdrop procedure, even in light of the upcoming token launch. Fairness is still a top priority for the team, and appeals are permitted in the event that any false positives are found throughout the examination process. The 8,000 victors will become part of the 20,000 gamers that participated in the initial Play-to-Airdrop campaign.
As the gaming community eagerly awaits the PIXEL token launch date, Barwikowski emphasized the importance of staying vigilant against social media scams related to the upcoming airdrop. Notably, players won’t need to execute transactions with a wallet to claim their airdropped tokens—Pixel’s claim process unfolds in-game, with allocations determined off-chain.
Barwikowski told fans that the launch is “very close,” even if PIXEL token allotment estimations and the launch date are still unknown. Pixels, meanwhile, intends to launch a joyous “Pixmas” giveaway campaign with gifts including in-game land plots and merchandise. Notably, after the Play-to-Airdrop 2.0 finale, this campaign will not provide more PIXEL tokens.
Barwikowski made hints about upcoming play-to-earn mechanisms as players took advantage of their last chance to get PIXEL tokens in the current campaign, particularly in light of the upcoming release of the game’s much-anticipated “Chapter 2” update. The Pixels community is looking forward to their next digital adventure with much anticipation.
